Shimla: Former Union minister Anand Sharma will “definitely” be a cabinet minister in the Centre’s Indian bloc government, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhum said on Sunday.
Mr. Sharma is a Kangra Lok Sabha parliamentary candidate who served as the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry from 2009 to 2014.
Campaigning for Sharma in the Jwalamukhi Assembly segment, Sukh highlighted the former Union Minister’s contributions to the state during his stint in the Central government.
“Kangra needs an MP whose voice can be heard across the country. Mr. Anand Sharma was elected from Kangra because he is a stature leader and has contributed immensely to Himachal as a Union Minister,” Suk said. Ta.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology in Kangra, the Spice Park in Nadaun, the District Passport Office in Shimla, the expansion of industrial zones in the state and the Shimla-Mathur four-lane expressway are fruits of his vision. If Sharma wins, his participation in the Indian bloc government will be ensured, Sukh claimed.
Sharma and other Congress officials also attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of conspiring to overthrow the Congress government in the state.
Stating that rumors were circulating that Sukh had resigned, opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur said even God could not save the government.
“A plot was hatched to overthrow my government, but six parliamentary rebels defied the whip and were disqualified, allowing my government to survive,” Suk said.
He added that there was no threat to the government and that it would serve its full term.
Suk was referring to six rebel Congress MLAs who abstained from voting on the retrenchment motion and the Finance Bill (budget bill) in Parliament. They were then disqualified for failing to obey the party whip to attend the House of Commons and vote in favor of the government.
“Although the rebels claimed that they were not given due respect, all decisions regarding the placement of constituencies and officials were made with consent. They were not starving for respect; “I was hungry for the ‘Thurman’ in my briefcase,” Suk claimed.
The senior Congress leader reiterated that the Lok Sabha elections were to save democracy, and that the people should give a befitting response to the Bharatiya Janata Party and call it a “dhanbar” (money power) of the Bharatiya Janata Party. “We will defeat it through the power of the people,” he said.
Mr. Suk claimed that the state government had reinstated the old pension scheme for employees and pensioners without any political motive, but the former chief minister and his predecessor Mr. Thakur had insisted that their employees receive their pension. appealed to challenge the election.
He also accused Thakur of delaying the release of Rs 9,000 crore deposited with the Center under the National Pension Scheme.
Suk said that after last year’s natural monsoon disaster, the Bharatiya Janata Party did not support the state government’s resolution seeking special financial provision from the Center.
However, the state government released Rs 4.5 billion from its own coffers to provide relief to 22,000 affected families, he added.
