2024 Lok Sabha elections: BJP’s Amit Shah asserts dominance in Bengal, targets TMC at Kanti rally
At a fiery rally in Kanti, West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah made a bold declaration, hinting at the party’s growing influence in the state, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It targeted the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Prime Minister Shah declared that the “India Bloc” had ceased to exist following the conclusion of the five-phase parliamentary polls in the state, marking a major crack in the opposition’s stronghold. He emphasized the growing influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party and hinted at an impending political change.
Mr. Shah expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, predicting that if the party wins 30 seats in Bengal, the TMC will collapse, paving the way for the exit of the Mamata Banerjee-led government. This bold claim underlines the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ambition to transform the state’s political landscape.
Shah accused the TMC of fostering an environment conducive to illegal encroachments and slammed Mamata Banerjee, alleging that her government had turned Bengal into a sanctuary for infiltrators. She further accused Banerjee of violating national security to gain electoral benefits from her and called her actions detrimental to the national interest.
Shah has not minced words in criticising Banerjee’s rule, accusing her of changing the demographics of Bengal and fostering an environment in which bomb-making can thrive as a major industry. He also condemned the attacks on priests and asked Banerjee to refrain from divisive tactics to gain electoral advantage.
Prime Minister Shah highlighted the far-reaching impact of infiltration in Bengal, underlined its negative impact on the country as a whole, and stressed the urgency of addressing the issue comprehensively.
As political temperature rises in Bengal ahead of elections, Shah’s rallying cry in Kanti is a stark reminder of the BJP’s determination to challenge TMC’s dominance in the state and reshape the political landscape. It has become a thing.
