CHHATRAPATI SAMBAJINAGAR: New Communist Party (SP) leader Bajrang Sonawane, who won from Beed in the recent Lok Sabha elections, on Wednesday strongly denied claims made by a senior SP leader that he had called Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Hitting back at Congress leader Amol Mitkari, whose tweet went viral, Sonawane said he was one of the eight MPs who won the elections from Sharad Pawar’s Congress party and if he continues to be in touch with anyone, people will defeat him.
He also suspected that Mitkari might have been a telephone operator at Pawar’s bungalow.
“Beed’s Bappa is called Dada,” Mitkari tweeted on Tuesday.
Sonawane, fondly called “Bajrang Bappa” by his supporters, assured that he would be with Sharad Pawar till his last breath.
“Who is Amol Mitkari? Is he the operator at Dada’s (Ajit Pawar) bungalow? I don’t know, you should ask (him). The operator will have the (call) record of who called Ajit Pawar,” Sonawane told reporters in Beed.
In the recent elections, Sonawane had won by a landslide defeating BJP candidate Pankaja Munde from Beed.
“Sharad Pawar was elected with eight seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. If a legislator like me continues to be in contact with anyone, people will beat him up. Even my wife and father will beat me up,” he said.
“But those who have only one MP can contact Sharad Pawar,” he added.
Notably, Ajit Pawar’s NCP won in one constituency in the recent elections.
