2024 Lok Sabha elections | PM Modi keen on reclaiming the prime minister’s post rather than paving the way for the next generation – Uddhav Thackeray

THANE: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has condemned the repeated targeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar, saying that instead of paving the way for the next generation, Prime Minister He claimed he was keen to regain his post.

Addressing an election rally in Thane on Thursday calling for the candidacy of the sitting Congress MP and his party’s candidate Rajan Vishal, Thackeray said the race was a clash of loyalty and betrayal.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena party has fielded Naresh Maske from Thane Lok Sabha constituency in the fifth phase of polls on May 20, along with 12 other seats, including six from Mumbai. Nominated.

The contest in Thane is a battle for the prestige of Shinde, an influential leader in the region who split the original Shiv Sena in 2022 and aligned himself with the BJP.

However, Mr. Thackeray mainly focused on Mr. Modi and his policies. He accused Modi of being controversial with his rhetoric and claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party was shifting its narrative from a promise of securing a majority to allegations of dynastic politics.

The Sena (UBT) accused Modi of repeatedly targeting him and Sharad Pawar. In a recent speech, Prime Minister Modi called Thackeray’s party the “Nakli Sena” and described Pawar as a “bhatakti atma” (wandering soul).

Mr Modi claimed he was keen on reclaiming the prime minister’s post rather than paving the way for the next generation.

Mr. Thackeray defended the coalition government model, citing past successes and contrasting it with the perceived stagnation under single-party rule.

Mr. Thackeray added that the Shiv Sena and Mr. Thane have a unique bond as the city gave the party a foothold in the early days.
