Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have put an end to sectarian politics in India and termed his party’s victory in Ayodhya as a democratic victory of India’s mature electorate.
“The people have destroyed the arrogance of the government…. For the first time, it feels like we have a defeated government. The people are saying this government cannot run. [2024 election results] It was a moral victory. [Opposition] India [Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance]”…This is a victory for positive politics,” Yadav said during debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Indian Parliament. “This time it is a victory not of whim but of the will of the people.” Yadav called the results of the Lok Sabha elections a moral victory for the Hindu nation.
Yadav blamed the government for leaking the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET exam papers. He blamed the government for such leaks. “Why are exam papers being leaked? The truth is that this is being done so that the government does not have to give jobs to the youth… The youth are not being given jobs. Instead, the government is taking away jobs.”
He said the Union of India would never accept the Agniveru Scheme. Yadav also raised the issue of caste census and termed it as social justice. “If the Union of India comes to power, the Agniveru Scheme will be scrapped… The legal guarantee of MSP on crops has not been implemented. Horticulture crops should also be given MSP…” he said.
Yadav said he has no faith in electronic voting machines (EVMs) even if his party wins all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. “The EVM issue is not over.”
