According to the Election Commission of India, voter turnout in the 58 seats that went to polls for the sixth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on May 25 was around 61.75 percent.

This is slightly lower than the 64.73 per cent voter turnout in 58 constituencies in 2019, excluding the reserved constituency of Anantnag-Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.

Saturday’s voter turnout is slightly lower than the 64.7 per cent turnout in these constituencies in 2019, except for the restricted constituency of Anantnag-Rajouri constituency.

The highest turnout was in West Bengal at 80 percent, followed by Jharkhand at 63.76 percent and Odisha at 71 percent. Haryana had 62 percent, Delhi 58.3 percent and Bihar 55.24 percent. Uttar Pradesh recorded 54.03 percent and Anantnag Rajouri constituency in Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest turnout since 1984 at 54.46 percent.

These figures are based on the latest estimated voter turnout figures updated on the Election Commission’s voter turnout app. Final figures will be released within a day or two.

Elections for 486 of India’s 543 lower house seats were over by the end of the sixth phase of voting on Saturday. The remaining 57 seats will go to polls in the final phase on June 1. Results of the seventh phase will be announced on June 4.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday released voter counts for all five phases of India’s Lok Sabha elections, slamming a pattern of misrepresentations and malicious plots to subvert the electoral process.

The first three phases of voting recorded lower voter turnout than the figures in 2019. However, voter turnout increased from the fourth phase of voting onwards.

Voter turnout for the fifth phase of India’s Lok Sabha elections, held on May 20, was 62.2%, surpassing the 61.82% turnout in the same constituency in 2019. Voter turnout for the fourth phase, held on May 13, was 69.16%, slightly higher than the 68.8% turnout in the same constituency in 2019.

According to the Election Commission, turnout in the third phase, held on May 7, was 65.68%, lower than the 66.58% turnout in 2019. Turnout in the second phase, held on April 26, was 66.71%, lower than the 69.43% turnout in 2019, and turnout in the first phase, held on April 19, was 66.14%, lower than the 69.29% turnout in 2019.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), seeking a record third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is targeting 400 seats in the upcoming election. The ruling coalition is taking on the opposition, led by the Indian National Congress, under the banner of the United India Party.
