The 2024 MLB All-Star Game roster is starting to take shape, with the results of the second phase of fan voting being announced on Wednesday.
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge and Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper have already made the team after leading their respective leagues in the first phase, with the remaining spots in the starting lineup decided by a head-to-head contest between the top two vote-getters at each position.
The Philadelphia Phillies, who have the best record in MLB with 56 wins and 29 losses, lead all teams in starting three infielders, while the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Cleveland Guardians and San Diego Padres also have multiple starting pitchers.
The only representative of the Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitching staff will be Shohei Ohtani, who will be making his first appearance for the Dodgers in the midst of a season in which he led all National League players in batting average, OPS, home runs and WAR. The Dodgers could have brought in a second starting pitcher, but ESPN’s announcement show reported that Teoscar Hernandez lost out to Fernando Tatis Jr. by about 3,000 votes for the final outfield position.
