grade: round 1 • Round 2 • Round 3 • Round 4 • Round 5 • Round 6 • Round 7
1. Bears: Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Class A-
They say he’s a generational thing, and maybe that’s the case, but there are some concerns. I like his game, but I would have chosen Jaden Daniels. only time will tell.
2. Commander: Jaden Daniels, QB, LSU
Class A
I love this pick. It’s a great situation for a rookie. The team has a new owner, coach, and quarterback. they can grow together. He’s going to be the best QB in this class.
3. Patriots: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina State
Grade: B
He may need some time on the bench, but he has the talent to develop into a good starting quarterback in this league. He just needs to tweak some mechanical stuff. The Patriots needed to get a quarterback.
4. Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State University
Grade: B+
He has the tools to be a star receiver in this league. It worked because the Cardinals needed to get a receiver. He will be a key playmaker in their offense. I think Malik Nabors is better, but it’s probably close.
5. Chargers: Joe Alto, OT, Notre Dame
Grade: B
He’s the best player in this class, but now he has to move to right tackle for Jim Harbaugh. That may be difficult. But it made sense to go with a lineman, and I might have been better suited to go with JC Latham.
6. Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Grade: A+
I love this pick for the Giants. They didn’t believe in the quarterback they had left, but now it says they’re getting a playmaker on the outside. This kid is going to be a star.
7. Titans: JC Latham, OT, Alabama
Grade: B+
He’s a right tackle and they need a left tackle, so it’ll be interesting to see how they play. But he’s a violent player no matter where he plays. He’s cross-trained both left and right at Alabama, so he should have a smooth transition.
8. Falcons: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington
Grade: B-
They chose to acquire their quarterback of the future by acquiring Penix. He has all the tools but is going to learn and wait behind Kirk Cousins. Can he rush the passer? I like the players, but I don’t like the picks. Grade: B
9. Bears: Roma Odunze, WR, Washington
Grade: B+
This is a smart move for the Bears, even if bringing in an edge rusher fills a larger need. Now we have a young receiver who will develop alongside Caleb Williams. Odunze would give them a great three-receiver group.
10. Vikings: JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan State
Grade: C+
They needed to fill the quarterback spot, so acquiring McCarthy made sense. I don’t love him as much as others, but it will be interesting to see how Kevin O’Connell and his pals pull it off.
11. Jets: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State.
Grade: B-
He’s the left tackle of the future, but he’s also insurance in case Tyron Smith can’t play all season. He is good in pass protection but needs to improve his run blocking. This isn’t an all-in pick like Brock Bowers.
12. Broncos: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon State
Grade: C-
I don’t like the Knicks, but it makes sense. Desperate situations force teams to select a quarterback sooner than necessary. Sean Payton clearly sees Drew Brees in him, but it’s still early. Why not trade and get him later?
13. Raiders: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Grade: C
He’s a great player, but didn’t they draft Michael Mayer last year and sign Harrison Bryant this year? They have other needs as well. I don’t really like this pick. It’s not like he’s a great blocker in their run game. Strange choice with other needs.
14. Saints: Talese Fuaga, Oregon State, OT
Grade: B+
God is meeting the great needs of the saints. They have big problems in tackling. Fuaga is a troublesome player who will start right away. I love him.
15. Colts: Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
Grade: B-
I think they had other options at this spot and in my mind they had a better edge rusher. But despite the medical concerns, Latu has excellent pass-rushing skills. They need urgent help.
16. Seahawks: Byron Murphy, DT, Texas
Class A
They’ll be patient and get what could be the best defensive player in this draft. Murphy has sometimes been compared to Justin Madubuike, who new Seahawks manager Mike McDonald coached in Baltimore.
17. Vikings: Dallas Turner, Edge, Alabama
Class A
I love this move to get Turner. He’s going to be the best edge player in this class. The Vikings have had a lot of success with edge players, and he fits what Brian Flores wants to do.
18. Bengals: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
Grade: B-
To me, Mims chooses feast or famine. He could be a star, but he also has some limitations because he hasn’t played much football. This can bring great benefits, but it also comes with risks.
19. Rams: Jared Barth, EDGE, Florida State
Grade: B+
The Rams will be patient and ultimately land one of the best pass rushers in this draft. This fills a big need and will help make up for the loss of Aaron Donald on the inside.
20. Steelers: Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington
Grade: B
The Steelers needed Broderick Jones at tackle, but Fautano can also play inside. He’s a physical player who is perfect for what they want to do. This is a great, solid Steelers pick.
21. Dolphins: Chopp Robinson, EDGE, Penn State
Class A
I love this choice in Miami. He took his best first step in this draft. With a little coaching, he could become a dominant pass rusher. They could also run him as a front-facing Joker. I love him.
22. Eagles: Kunyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo
Grade: B+
The Eagles are waiting to land the best corner in this draft. That’s smart. There was talk of adding to the team through trade, but now they have acquired a player who is needed as age creeps into the defense. Good choice.
23. Jaguars: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU
Grade: B+
This is a huge move for a team in need of new young weapons. He can fly and his best football is in front of him. Keep an eye on their offense in 2024.
24. Lions: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama
Grade: B
The Lions needed corner help, so it made sense to make a move to acquire it. Arnold gives Alabama another secondary player in Brian Branch, another versatile player.
25. Packers: Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona
Grade: C+
Maybe they should have brought Graham Burton here, but they needed help up front and I understood that. Morgan can move inside and guard, but moving right tackle Zach Tom to center would make him the right tackle.
26. Buccaneers: Graham Burton, IOL, Duke
Class A
This is a great choice. They have big problems at center and questionable left guard, but he can play both. I love this pick. Barton moves inside from the tackle, but can also play there in a pinch.
27. Cardinals: Darius Robinson (Edge, Missouri)
Grade: B
He’s a good, solid player who can play outside or move inside as a rusher. The Cardinals needed help up front, so acquiring a player with this versatility made a lot of sense.
28. Chiefs: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
Class A
He can fly straight. He’s had some issues with drops, but getting that kind of speed makes a lot of sense for a team that once had Tyreek Hill. How much does Patrick Mahomes love this guy?
29. Cowboys: Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma State
Grade: B
This is a move that many people expected. He played right tackle in college, but he can also move to the left side. This fills a huge need.
30. Ravens: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson
Grade: B+
They have a need at corner, and Wiggins might be the best cover player of them all. He’s not a great tackler, but he can lock on and play as a defensive press man. He just needs to improve his tackling.
31. 49ers: Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
Grade: C-
This is a strange choice. Do they need it? If so, why Pearsall? Why acquire this player unless they trade Brandon Aiyuk? It’s a luxury pick.
32. Panthers: Xavier Leggett, WR, South Carolina
Grade: B+
They need to get a weapon for Bryce Young, so it makes sense to land him. He is a player who plays with an emphasis on physicality and is a better runner than I expected. He’s only been doing it for a year.
