BARIA/LUCKNOW (UP): Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday slammed opposition parties for stirring up China issues while asserting that PoK “was, is and always will be ours”.
“This election is also about finding out who has elevated this country’s standing in the world,” Singh said at another polling rally later in the day in Lucknow, where he is campaigning. .
Accusing the opposition of spreading confusion over the China issue, he said: “India has not lost anything. We will not let India lose anything. Negotiations are continuing…We are confident that a solution will be found. ” he said.
Singh also spoke at an election rally in Sikandarpur in Ballia in support of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sarenpur candidate Ravindra Kushwaha and said, “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is ours. It is ours, and it will always be ours.”
Elaborating on his remarks at the Lucknow rally, Singh said, “Three years ago, I said there is no need to attack (anyone) to capture PoK. They will ask India to join them. You must have seen it.” That such a situation is being created there today. “I would like to appeal to international human rights organizations to find out what kind of harassment people in PoK are being subjected to,” the defense minister added.
He accompanied Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
Singh claimed that political analysts in India and around the world believe that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win more than 400 seats and form the government after four-phase elections.
He also launched attacks on India’s bloc partners AAP, Samajwadi Party and Congress, and promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
“We will enforce the Uniform Civil Code. That is our commitment. We are not against any religion. Everyone who lives in this country, whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Christians or Jews, “I’m talking about uniforms because civil law is one of the policy-making principles of the Constitution,” he said.
Attacking the opposition over claims that Modi was trying to win 400 seats in parliament so that the Bharatiya Janata Party could amend the constitution, Singh recalled the emergency period under parliamentary rules and said, “You are a democracy.” They are strangling us and blaming us. The defense minister accused the Samajwadi Party and the Congress of making every conceivable allegation against the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“The chain on my bicycle (the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol) has come off,” he said.
He also likened the Congress to a dinosaur and said the great old political parties would disappear.
“The state of Congress has become so weakened that in 10 years, if you say ‘Congress’, people will ask, ‘Who is Congress?'” It will become extinct,” Singh said.
He also slammed AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged assault of party member Swati Maliwal at his official residence.
Regarding Lucknow’s development, Mr. Singh said, “We have done everything possible for the development of Lucknow. I can say that Lucknow is among the top 10 cities in the world in terms of development.” Referring to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the development of the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Adityanath said the state had become secure during the 10 years under the Modi government.
He pointed to terrorist attacks during the previous administration and criticized the opposition’s “appeasement politics.”

Singh and Adityanath also appealed to voters to vote for the BJP’s candidate OP Srivastav in the Lucknow East assembly by-election.
The seat became vacant due to the death of sitting MLA Ashutosh Tandon.
Voting in Lucknow will be held on May 20. Voting will be held in Sarempur in the final phase of the election on June 1.
