Georgia Tech isn’t done tonight.
Just a few minutes earlier they had received a commitment from 2025 tight end Kevin Roche, and now safety Jayden Barr has joined the Yellow Jackets’ 2025 class, becoming the 15th commitment for Brent Key’s program tonight.

Barr is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety prospect who plays at Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia. Barr also holds offers from Appalachian State University, Boston College, Georgia Southern University, East Carolina University, Georgia State University, Marshall University and Western Kentucky University, among others. Barr received his offer from the Yellow Jackets in May and took an official visit to Atlanta over the weekend.
Both Barr and Roche are currently under-the-radar prospects. Roche, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound player, was overlooked in the recruiting process so far and took an official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend.
Roche played his high school basketball at Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut and holds offers from Columbia University, University of Connecticut, Fordham University, Harvard University, Lehigh University, University of Massachusetts, University of Pennsylvania, University of Rhode Island, University of Toledo, Vanderbilt University and West Virginia University. As I said before, Roche has been overlooked for the majority of this process, but I am impressed with the potential given his size and think he will garner even more offers as the 2025 cycle progresses.
Georgia Tech committed three-star defensive end Carrington Coombs on Saturday. Georgia Tech didn’t have the same weekend as last time out, but the Yellow Jackets still rank in the top 25 nationally and fifth in the ACC. Duke is a team that moved from sixth to fourth in the ACC.
Coombs is a three-star recruit, the No. 625 player in the country, the No. 68 linebacker in the country and the No. 69 player in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Other schools that Coombs has offered to include Boston College, Kansas State University, Liberty University, University of Virginia, Oklahoma State University, University of Florida and Appalachian State University. Here are some other news and notable stats about Coombs, provided by 247Sports:
I also play basketball.
2023: Played two-way snaps at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia, helping lead the Lions to a 6-5 record and a berth in the first round of the GHSA 3A playoffs. As a junior, he recorded 41 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and two catches for 23 yards on offense.
Georgia Tech has started off really well this month. They’re only going to get better. Brent Key has done a great job of getting players on campus and recruiting them. I think they can still move up in the recruiting rankings.
