Brooklyn, where I live, is home to an interesting little subset of New York style. Like other parts of New York City, Williamsburg has its own fashion personality, more subdued than other parts of Manhattan, but still very intentional. This neighborhood still has a bit of a hipster feel to it, and I would say it’s somewhere between Soho and the Lower East Side fashion-wise.
This reminds me of one of my favorite things about New York: how what’s trending among locals evolves block by block. Don’t get me wrong. As the L train rolls past 1st Avenue, there’s no shortage of signs of fall’s big three (suede, burgundy, leopard print), but my little corner of Brooklyn definitely has some of fall’s big fashions. It has its own trendy trends that honestly surpass it. moment. From classic chic outerwear to controversial shoes, here’s what Williamsburg’s stylish people are wearing right now.
Olive green > burgundy
Burgundy is a fall color trend and we can’t stop talking about it, but when it comes to Williamsburg, olive green is the trend. Outdoor-inspired hues are a great choice for outerwear, but we also often see them layered for a head-to-toe muted look.

Wrong shoes come in many forms, but by far the most popular are the slightly beat-up, vintage-looking boat shoes. Miu Miu’s most popular versions are sold out, but there’s no shortage of affordable styles you can buy instead.

Classic Trench > Funnel Neck Style
I see a lot of great funnel neck coats and jackets online that are very on-trend, but they haven’t really made their way into my real life. just Still, perhaps it’s because the unseasonably hot weather continues. On the other hand, it’s all about oversized trenches with a vintage feel that reach below the knees and are worn even more slouchy.

Brown corduroy > brown suede
Yes, suede is important. If you’re shopping for this season’s sold-out totes, blazers, and bombers, you’re probably familiar with this. However, readily available and wallet-friendly corduroy is also gaining in popularity, especially in shades of brown, which you’ll want to layer with other rich chocolate knits, leathers, and suedes in your fall wardrobe. .

Taupe Denim > Dark Wash Jeans
Super-polished dark wash denim is a classic fall trend, but we haven’t seen much of it so far this fall. Instead, this unexpected taupe denim trend happened to catch my eye. It’s usually paired with relaxed knits and a lively handbag to create an easy look that feels especially cool and modern.
