As many as 226 candidates had been submitted on the last day, Punjab Chief Election Officer Shivin C. Justin announced.
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Shibin C said 226 candidates were filed on Tuesday, the last day to submit candidates for 13 seats in the state, and the number of candidates was increased from May 7 to May 14. It was announced that the total number of participants was 598.
Most of the candidates who submitted their nominations on the final day were independents. Shibin C said nomination papers will be scrutinized on Wednesday and candidates have until Friday, May 17 to withdraw their nominations. Thirteen seats in Punjab will go to polls on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Fatehgarh Sahib: 17 people including Congress’s Amar Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Geja Ram.
