The third phase of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place today in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories. More than 1,300 candidates, including 120 women, contested in this crucial phase.
62.1% voter turnout was recorded across 11 states and union territories in this phase.
The third phase of voting took place in 26 seats in Gujarat, 14 in Karnataka, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Assam, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Goa and 2 in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4.

Nine hundred and sixty-five Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) components – control units, VVPATs and ballot units – were replaced due to malfunctioning in the third and last phase of polling across the four Lok Sabha seats in Assam today, officials said, reported news agency PTI.
In several cases, the components were replaced as the complete EVM set, while it was changed in parts in most of the cases after snags were detected, a senior official of the Election Department said on condition of anonymity.
Several of these glitches were noticed during mock polling, which started 90 minutes before the actual voting, and those machines were replaced accordingly, he added.
Gujarat riots survivor Bilkis Bano cast her vote with her husband Yakub Rasul in the state’s Devgadh Baria town under the Dahod Lok Sabha constituency, reported news agency PTI. Ms Bano flashed her inked finger after coming out of the polling station in the Kapdi locality.
62.1% polling was registered in Phase 3 of polls today.
Trinamool Congress leaders and party workers protested against the BJP candidate from South Malda Lok Sabha seat Sreerupa Mitra Choudhary when she reached a polling station in her constituency, reported news agency PTI. Speaking about the incident, Ms Choudhary said, “At 18 number ward, there are five booths and 6,000 voters. The local councillor, Nivedita Kundu, and her husband Ashish Kundu from the TMC gathered a mob and surrounded the main entrance of the polling station and started raising political slogans. They were creating obstructions for the voters and they wanted to create fear in them so that they don’t come to vote.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday voted at a polling booth in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency in the single-phase voting for 25 seats in Gujarat.
PM Modi reached the polling booth at Nishan Public School in Ranip locality of Ahmedabad city soon after the polling began at 7 am and cast his vote.
Union minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah, who is contesting to retain the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, was present when Modi reached the polling booth.
