The seventh phase of India’s Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for June 1, in which voters in 57 constituencies across eight states will exercise their franchise to decide the composition of a new government. Results of this phase will be announced on June 4, 12 days before the end of the current Lok Sabha term.
Prior to this final phase, the electoral process had gone through earlier phases: the first phase on April 19 covered 102 constituencies in 21 states, followed by the second phase on April 26 covering 89 constituencies in 13 states.

Elections were held in 94 constituencies in 12 states on May 7, followed by the fourth phase on May 13 in 96 seats in 10 states. The fifth phase on May 20 in 49 seats in eight states, followed by the sixth phase on May 25 in 57 seats in seven states, and the seventh phase on June 1 in 57 seats in eight states.
The seventh phase of state constituency elections is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, with a total of 57 seats being contested in various districts. Bihar, with eight seats, will have constituencies such as Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Ara, Buxar, Sasaram, Karakat and Jahanabad. Chandigarh will have one seat, which will be contested in the state. Himachal Pradesh, with four seats, will have constituencies in Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur and Shimla. Jharkhand, with three seats, will have constituencies in Dumka, Godda and Rajmahal. Odisha, with six seats, will have constituencies in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jaipur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj.
Punjab has 13 seats and its constituencies include Amritsar, Kadur Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, Patiala and Chandigarh. Uttar Pradesh also has 13 seats and its constituencies include Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Ghosi, Sullenpur, Bahria, Gazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj.
Finally, West Bengal has allocated nine seats to constituencies like Barasat, Basirhat, Jaynagar, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbour, Jadavpur, Kolkata Dakshin, Kolkata Uttar, Kolkata Uttar etc. The coming steps are expected to be a crucial moment in the democratisation process that will shape the political landscape of these regions.
