Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The second phase of Lok Sabha elections concluded on Friday. Political parties are currently busy campaigning for the third and fourth terms of the general election. In his first two phases, elections were held across Mahakaushal, Vindhya, Sagar and Bundelkhand states. In the third phase, voting will be held in Gwalior, Chambal and Bhopal districts.
Parties will focus on Malwa and Nimal states in the third phase. As the fourth stage of candidate submissions begins, political parties are also gearing up for election campaigns in earnest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held a meeting in Morena. Home Minister Amit Shah held public meetings at Parliament House in Guna and Rajgarh.
Congress is planning to hold Priyanka Gandhi roadshow in these constituencies. The BJP performed better than the Congress in these areas in the assembly elections. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won all the seats in these regions. Damaging the BJP’s stronghold is a major challenge for the Congress.
Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who won a parliamentary seat in 2014, belongs to the BJP. Against this backdrop, it will be difficult for opponents to register wins in Malwa, Bhopal and Gwalior Chambal divisions. Important leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the state Congress are from the Malwa region. Prime Minister Mohan Yadav, MPCC chairman Jitu Patwari and opposition leader Umang Singhal are from this region only. Therefore, both parties will spare no effort to win as many seats as possible from this region.
Shivraj, Digvijaya and Scindia will compete in the third phase
Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh): After the second phase concluded on Friday, political parties have started preparations for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Nine seats will be voted on in the third stage. At this stage, senior leaders of both political parties are in contention. Former chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Digvijaya Singh are contesting from Vidisha and Rajgarh cities respectively.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting from Guna Shivpuri constituency. Both Singh and Scindia lost the 2019 elections. Instead of contesting from Bhopal, Singh is fighting from Rajgarh. However, Scindia is contesting from Guna Shivpuri, which is her traditional seat.
Apart from Mr. Chouhan, Mr. Scindia and Mr. Singh remain in their constituencies. With these two leaders entering the fray, the second phase of the election became interesting. Chauhan will be competing from Vidisha after 20 years. After he was removed from the chief minister’s post, all eyes were on Vidisha.
