Jonah Goldberg calls Harris ‘Biden’s worst political decision’

In a commentary Saturday, conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg called Vice President Kamala Harris the “worst political decision” of President Biden’s presidency.

Goldberg made this claim during a panel discussion on CNN’s “The Chris Wallace Show.”

CNN anchor Wallace detailed the focus group results to a panel discussion. She said the anti-Trump outside group Republican Voters Against Trump found that swing voters “don’t like” Harris, and another focus group conducted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) found that the vice president “It’s pointing some people in the wrong direction,” he said. ”

Goldberg, editor-in-chief of the online news outlet The Dispatch, argued that Harris’ favorability issues could hinder Biden’s re-election efforts.

“I think she’s pretty troubling. I think picking her first was definitely the worst political decision since Biden took office,” Goldberg said in comments on CNN on Saturday, as covered by Mediaite. he said.

“And one of the particular reasons she’s holding back is that Biden’s age concerns people,” he said. “They’re worried that he won’t be able to complete his term. They’re worried that he’s not up to the job. So the vice president is more important than usual. It becomes.”

A Los Angeles Times columnist says Democrats will nominate candidates in deep blue states, citing concerns about their ability to win over a broad swath of voters unless they are a “once-in-a-generation talent” like former President Obama. He argued that it shouldn’t be done. .

“I generally think that going forward, Democrats should not nominate or field people from clearly deep blue states unless they have a once-in-a-generation talent like Barack Obama. ” Goldberg said. “Because Kamala Harris doesn’t know how to talk to the center or the right. All she really knows is how to speak the language of her party’s stronghold. And that’s 34% of voters. .”

Wallace then cited a recent Monmouth University poll conducted in April in which 55% of respondents disapproved of their own job evaluations, compared to the previous February poll. This was a slight improvement from the 58% disapproval rate.

Tech journalist Kara Swisher, who participated in the panel discussion with journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro and Washington Free Beacon Editor-in-Chief Eliana Johnson, said Harris will not be replaced by another candidate. Harris said his numbers were not significant.

“It doesn’t really matter. It’s not going to replace her,” Swisher said. “And they don’t like her. There’s a lot of reasons why they don’t like her, but I don’t think the vice president is as important as people think. I don’t think you’re thinking about it…”

Wallace agreed that Biden’s age may be more important.

“Yes, I understand. I get that, but I don’t think the first thing they think of at this point is necessarily her,” Swisher said.

“I don’t think they liked her. She wasn’t successful as vice president, but I don’t know what that means at all, but people didn’t like Mike Pence or Dan Quayle or anybody. I don’t think you’re thinking much about it.’ Other than that. So it doesn’t matter because she’s not going anywhere, he’s not going to replace her. Let’s think about it. Think about the earthquakes it causes. ”
