A cricketer’s fitness is one of the most important criteria for selection for the tournament. However, focusing on fitness can lead to injuries that may prevent a player from playing in the next series.

Recently, Pakistan’s Azam Khan, Mohammad Rizwan and Irfan Niazi were all left out of the national team for the series against New Zealand due to injuries. Azam sustained a calf injury while Rizwan and Niazi reportedly sat out after the third T20I due to hamstring injuries. ESPNCricinfo.

As critics accuse Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi of forcing Pakistani players to undergo military training in the final days of Ramzan, Naqvi said the camp had not been able to report any injuries to the players. He denied that there was any relationship.

Naqvi said at a press conference: ESPNCricinfo“Fitness training does not cause injuries.”

He further added, “There are various theories on how to make players fit. Fitness has never been the focus of Pakistan’s management in the past.”

“I’m not criticizing the players who came before me, but look at other players in the world. The fitness of Pakistani players is far below that. This is just the beginning. We need to further strengthen the fitness of our players, and if necessary, we will bring in fitness experts from all over the world.”

Azhar Mahmood, Pakistan’s newly appointed all-format assistant coach, struck a similar tone, saying, “Kachr’s training had nothing to do with cricket. The injuries sustained by the players were something that happened.” Told. [while] I played cricket and my training was related to physical fitness. If the players had been injured, they would not have been able to play in the first game. And Azam Khan didn’t get injured before the series, he got injured in the nets. ”

Pakistan’s new coach:

Ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the PCB on Sunday appointed Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as head coaches of the men’s team.

According to the details, Kirsten will take over as Pakistan’s white ball coach after the end of the current IPL 2024 season.
