JCR upgrades India’s sovereign rating to A-, outlook stable
The Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) raised India’s long-term foreign- and local-currency issuer rating by one notch, from BBB+ to A-, keeping the outlook stable. JCR also lifted India’s country ceiling by a notch to ‘A’. It cited India’s robust, well-positioned economic growth, strong private consumption and public investment, an improved fiscal profile and a sound financial system. The Finance Ministry welcomed the upgrade.
