Thank you to Coach Cummings and RTC Commissioner Shiffrin for their clear analysis of the Rail Trail situation. Think for a moment about what’s at stake in the upcoming national election and consider that climate impacts will hurt counties far more than the cost of rail. It is a tragedy that so much political capital is being wasted on this trail debate. This is a wedge issue that divides environmentally-minded voters, and should have been stopped when 73% of county electors voted against the Measure D trail-only option.

Together, let’s tackle the defining issues of our time.

— John Hunt.La Selva Beach

The Sentinel welcomes letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no longer than 175 words. Anonymous letters will not be accepted. Letter writers must include their full name, address, and phone number. We won’t publish these details in the newspaper, but we need the information for verification.
