Rise and Thrive grants support women business owners affected by floods

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Women’s Fund and the Center for Women and Enterprise, a support organization of the Vermont Community Foundation, are offering the Rise and Thrive campaign to women business owners affected by the July 2023 floods that caused extensive damage in Vermont. We are pleased to announce grants totaling $230,000 from .

“The Vermont Women’s Fund is grateful for our partnership with the Center for Women and Enterprise to support women-owned businesses in our state impacted by the summer 2023 floods. We would like to thank our generous donors for joining us in our ongoing campaign to help Vermont women and girls rise above flood disasters and thrive,” said Emily Bush, director of the Vermont Women’s Fund. Ta.

The Vermont Women’s Fund launched its “Rise and Thrive” campaign last fall, which together with the Vermont Community Foundation’s Vermont Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023, raised approximately $400,000. The funds were then donated to the Center for Women and Enterprise to be distributed to women business owners directly or indirectly affected by the floods. Following the first round of $230,000 in grants, additional grants will be awarded later this year.

A special thank you to workwear and outdoor apparel company Carhartt for donating an initial gift of $50,000 to the Rise and Thrive campaign. Additional funds were contributed by individual donors and corporations, nearly all of which came from Vermont.

The Women and Enterprise Center serves businesses in areas including Barre, Burton, Bellows Falls, Brookline, Burlington, Derby, Granville, Irasburg, Johnson, Lyndon, Lyndonville, Marshfield, Montpelier, Newport, Orange, and Plainfield. A total of 46 grants were awarded. , Richmond, St. Johnsbury, South Burlington, South Londonderry, Sutton, Waitsfield, Wells River, West Charleston, Windsor, Wilmington, and Worcester.
