Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears have finally settled their ongoing legal battle.

Nearly three years after the pop star’s conservatorship ended in 2021, father and daughter have settled for an undisclosed amount, according to CNN and the New York Times.

The legal dispute stemmed from Jamie Spears’ legal fees and the 42-year-old singer’s handling of his finances.

In a legal filing, Jamie Spears, 71, said in a legal filing that she is seeking to “quickly and efficiently exit the conservatorship and give Britney control of her own life, including her daughter’s nearly $60 million estate.” “I have the right to have my attorney’s fees paid by the court,” he previously argued. She and Jamie want,” the 2021 petition to the court states.

“This request is shameful,” Britney Spears’ attorney Matthew S. Rosengart said in a statement at the time. “Mr. Spears earned millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, but he also paid millions more to his lawyers, all from Britney’s work and hard-earned money.”

In this April 12, 2018 file photo, Britney Spears is seen attending the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

“Britney Spears has won because her father has been suspended as a conservator, she has gained freedom, and her civil rights and freedoms have been restored,” Rosengart told USA TODAY in a statement Monday.

He continued: “As instructed, she now has her final freedom because she no longer has to be involved in the courts or the court system regarding this matter.”

Jamie Spears’ attorney, Alex M. Weingarten, said that Spears’ father is “excited that this is all over.”

“Jamie loved his daughter very much and worked tirelessly to protect her,” he continued. “He wants what’s best for Britney, nothing more.”

Britney Spears and Jamie Spears reach settlement after 10-year conservatorship ends

Britney Spears’ conservatorship and highly publicized legal battle to get out of it ended in 2021 after nearly 14 years.

The pop star was first placed under conservatorship in 2008 after a public blunder the year before and her erratic behavior was photographed by paparazzi.

Momentum to end Spears’ conservatorship increased dramatically after the release of the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears.” The documentary spotlighted the controversy surrounding the pop star’s conservatorship and the #FreeBritney movement to end it.

Public outcry against the conservatorship reached a fever pitch after Spears gave emotional testimony during a June 2021 court hearing, calling the conservatorship an “abuse” and calling for it to be ended.

Jamie Spears was suspended from her conservatorship in September 2021 for controlling her daughter’s personal and/or financial affairs since the conservatorship took effect in 2008, with an estimated $60 million in damages. All of her assets were ordered to be handed over to a temporary guardian accountant.
