Congress leader and Wayanad Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi has been nominated to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh’s Rabareri seat, the Gandhi family stronghold vacated by his mother Sonia Gandhi. Sources revealed on May 3 that the documents will be submitted.
Sources said Kishori Lal Sharma, a Gandhi family ally, may be fielded from Amethi, the seat lost by Rahul Gandhi to Union Minister Smriti Iran in 2019. That’s what it means.

Friday, May 3 is the last day to submit candidates for the two seats that will go to polls in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 20.
Although there has been no formal announcement of candidates, the party has started preparing nominations for both seats traditionally held by members of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Rahul is expected to submit his nomination papers by noon. His mother Sonia Gandhi will also accompany him. Rahul is already contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Wayanad seat in Kerala, which he won in 2019. Wayanad went to the polls in the second phase on April 26.
Kishori Lal Sharma is expected to submit his papers at 10 am. Sharma’s nomination will be accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Mr Sharma has long been a supporter of the Gandhi family and represents Sonia Gandhi’s constituency in Raibareli.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced UP Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Raebareli. Singh lost to Sonia Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
