Tiger Tennis Results – End of Regular Season Play
This season, the Tiger tennis team accomplished something that head coach Dan Heath has never accomplished before with any tennis team. They finished regular season games with a 10-1 record. They will now compete in the Region 7 state qualifying tournament, which will be held May 2nd and 3rd at Pueblo City Park Courts.
On April 24, they traveled to Pueblo Centennial and defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 for their ninth win. Lily Reich faced a strong opponent in the No. 1 singles match and lost 3-6, 1-6. Macy Paschall won 6-0, 6-1 in second singles. JV player Gwen Hunter replaced the absent Rachel Comstock on the state choir. She had a great match in her #3 singles, dropping the first set 4-6, but then rallied to win 6-4. She fought a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set and lost by 19 points.
#1 Doubles Isabel Coleman and Alaia Ross lost 4-6, 3-6 in a hard-fought battle. #2 Doubles Rebecca Chaney and Clara Pugin won her 6-0, 6-1 and quickly finished the match. In No. 3 doubles, Mariah Shipman and Valentina Valente took command with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. The #4 duo of Madison Messer and Eden Murso won 6-3, 6-4.
April 25th was Tiger Court’s Senior Day and the last game of the regular season. The Tigers won 4-3 against Mesa Ridge with the No. 1 and No. 2 singles teams and the No. 3 and No. 4 doubles teams. On a breezy, windy day, Lily Reich defended the first set tiebreak 7-6 before shutting out the first singles 6-2. Second place Macy Pascal led from start to finish with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
