With dozens of acting credits and award nominations under her belt, Kate Hudson is ready to get her music career back on track.
The “Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery” star, 45, will be a guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and release her first album, “Glorious.” I dug into why I was ready.
“I love music. I’ve loved music all my life. That was my first love and I’ve been writing music my whole life,” Hudson said 20 years ago when she wrote her “Almost He told Fallon, his co-star on “Famous.” “And I thought this was just for me until the coronavirus hit. Then I thought, ‘I’m going to regret it if I don’t put it out there.'”
The Oscar nominee then took to the stage to make her television debut as a singer, wearing a plunging, floor-length bohemian dress just like “Almost Famous” to perform her latest song ” He sang “Gonna Find Out.” Wardrobe.

Hudson released her first single, “Talk About Love,” in January. She has since released “Love Forever” and “Gonna Find Out” in preparation for her album debut on May 17th.
There’s Americana and pop influences, but also “a little bit of country,” she told Fallon. She also revealed that she and her co-writers Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa (Hudson’s fiance) ended up producing 26 songs in two weeks.
In an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” last month, Hudson said he had been “really bad” at songwriting “all my life,” but he started writing the tracks for “Glorious” two years ago.
“I guess I just wasn’t ready for it until now,” she said. “Maybe I just don’t care anymore what people think. Whether it’s about myself or if I’m scared of ruining my film career, I don’t think it’s ever right. It just never felt right. I just do it.”
It helps that Bill Hudson of the Hudson Brothers is her biological father, and that musical talent is in her DNA as well.
“The Hudson brothers are extraordinarily talented musicians and great songwriters. My dad is a great songwriter,” she said.

The Bride Wars actor also opened up about how he was discouraged from entering the music business 10 years ago.
“Someone said to me – and it made me a little uncomfortable – it was when I was in my early 30s, and they basically said, ‘It’s over, it’s past. You can’t do it. You’re too old,”’ she said.
However, she ended up not heeding that advice. “No, no one will tell me what to do!”
