Pakistan Prime Minister expresses condolences on death of Saudi poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Saudi royal family on the passing away of Saudi Arabia’s eminent poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen, saying his work will serve as an inspiration for generations to come. He said he would continue to give.
The prince, affectionately known as “The Wordsmith,” is a legendary figure in modern Saudi poetry, whose influence in the art form spread throughout the country and the Gulf region, and his eloquent poetry and poignant prose. left an indelible mark on Saudi Arabia. people’s hearts and minds.
A pioneer in bringing Saudi poetry to Arab audiences, Prince Badr’s poems have been immortalized in song by many esteemed Arab artists, including Talal Maddah, Mohamed Abd, Khadim al-Sahir, and Asara. left his name behind. His patriotic words and songs particularly resonated deeply with Saudis.
Sharif said in a post on X that Prince Badr’s most popular song on Saudi Arabia’s National Day always reminds the world of his deep love for his homeland.
“His contribution to modern poetry in the Arabian Peninsula was truly remarkable and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” the Pakistani Prime Minister said.
“May his soul rest in peace and may his words forever resonate in the hearts of poetry lovers around the world.”

Prince Badr was born on April 2, 1949, and his journey as a poet and cultural figure began at an early age. He studied in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, England, and the United States, beginning his path to becoming a major figure in Arab literature.
As chairman of the Saudi Culture and Arts Association, he played an important role in promoting artistic expression and influencing the development of Saudi poetry organizations. In recognition of his outstanding contributions in this field, King Salman awarded Prince Badr the prestigious King Abdulaziz Medal in 2019.
