I’m Jennifer Baileys. Today she’s joined by Annie McCune from USA Cares. She’s here to talk about the new Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. Good morning, Sam. Let me introduce you to the friends I brought with me. This is my service dog, Lou. Well, she accompanies us on every media occasion. Well, she likes being on camera, obviously. So. Yeah. Well, she is memorable in her eyes and wants to take her with her. she is beautiful Now let’s talk about USA CARE. It’s a great organization for people watching at home who don’t know what it is. What is USA Care? Yes, we are a national nonprofit organization. Although we are based here in Louisville, we serve and assist veterans from all over the country. We have at least 9 to 11 veterans who are facing some type of disability or hardship. It doesn’t matter if you can’t do it or not. And it must be military related. But we support them in times of crisis, when they may face evictions, utility power outages, food shortages, etc., intervening to stop them and providing emergency financial assistance. To do. And it’s all in order to do something to prevent the epidemic of veteran suicide that we are actually causing. absolutely. Now, let’s talk about this new homeless veteran reintegration program. Ah, obviously a first for American interests. Well, please tell me what this program does. This is a grant through the U.S. Department of Labor that focuses on, um, helping all veterans obtain, um, meaningful employment. And I would like to point out that when we say homeless, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are living in a shelter. This includes people who are probably veterans and are couchsurfing, staying with relatives, living in their cars, or not having stable housing. We want to help them connect with local employers right here in the Kentucky area. And they can get jobs, housing and the help they need to reintegrate into society. Now, let’s talk about the referral process. What does that look like for veterans? Yes, it’s a very easy process. USA Cares allows you to email information. org or Google and you can call our 800 number. And really, all we have to do is ask you to connect us to something called the HVP program. And I say this. “Hey, I think there’s someone you’d like to meet. We can really go and meet them.” They can come to us. Oh, our team is amazing. They are very interested in interacting with these things. They’re done. They are rarely in the office. Well, they’re really, really dedicated to their work. And we’re very excited about this, but we just need veterans to stay in touch with us so we can help them. So what if you want to introduce the program to someone? What should you do? Yes, we have a lot of information on our website, but perhaps the best way to find out is to email the information to USA Cares. organization. We are providing that information now so you can find out more about the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. We are accepting referrals. As I mentioned earlier, this is an employment-focused program that provides a variety of resources to connect homeless veterans with local employers. That’s why we can help you find work, providing support services and access to housing. Thank you so much for stopping by and for the important work we do for veterans in our community. I just want to point out that we are always in need of financial support for what we do with the MA MA RSP program. So if you don’t have any veterans you’d like to refer to us, but you want to help veterans, we need your help. Visit USA Cares. Organization SLAS
