Three graduation ceremonies and more than 1,200 walks across the Clemente Center stage, songs and streamer cannons, blessings and applause greeted Florida Tech’s Class of 2024 on Saturday. “Florida Tech University’s Class of 2024, the world is waiting for you to shine,” former astronaut and Florida Tech alumnus Joanne Higginbotham told graduates in her keynote address. “Let’s move forward and make a better place.”

Joan Higginbotham, a two-time Florida Tech graduate and retired space shuttle astronaut, was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humanitarianism degree by President John Nicklow (left) and President John Kiss. Mr. Higginbotham was the commencement speaker at the university's commencement ceremony.

On Saturday, Florida Tech held its spring commencement ceremony for the Class of 2024, awarding more than 1,750 degrees during morning, afternoon and evening ceremonies. More than 1,200 students from the university's Schools of Science and Engineering, School of Aeronautics, School of Business, School of Psychology, and School of Liberal Arts received their diplomas in person.

Florida Tech President John Nicklow attended Saturday's Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony. The students represented 73 countries and all 50 of his states.  “Embracing and learning from people and cultures different from those to which we are accustomed may be one of the most valuable skills we teach our students,” he said in his address to graduates. Stated.  “Continue to see the value of difference, the importance of plurality, and the positive impact such thinking can have in both business and life.”
