Solapur/Satara: The internal murmurs within the Pawar family of Baramati are being heard and felt in the neighboring Lok Sabha constituency of Mada.
Madha, which straddles Solapur and Satara districts in western Maharashtra, borders Baramati Lok Sabha in Pune district. Madha’s politics affect the Pawar family.
In Madha, the battle is being fought between incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP)’s Dariyashir Mohite Patil.
Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar is from the erstwhile Paltan royal family, and Dariyashir Mohite Patil is from the Mohite Patil family of influential politicians in Akluji.
This constituency was created during delimitation in 2008 and in the first Lok Sabha polls held in 2009, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar won the Baramati seat from Supriya Sule. and won the seat. Sharad Pawar defeated Subhash Deshmukh of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Mahadev Jankar of the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha came third.
Ahead of the 2014 polls, Sharad Pawar announced that he would not contest the Lok Sabha elections and would prefer to be elected from the Rajya Sabha. In 2014, when Narendra Modi’s wave swept the state, his close aide Vijaysingh Mohite Patil won the seat, defeating Sadabau Kot of the Bharatiya Janata Party-backed Swabhimani Paksha.
In 2019, the BJP fielded Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar and defeated NCP’s Sanjay Mama Shinde.
During this time, the situation changed, with the Mohite Patil family aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Ranjitsinh Mohite Patil, son of former Deputy Prime Minister Vijaysinh Mohite Patil, being appointed as an MLC of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
However, Daryaseer Mohite Patil, nephew of Vijaysinh Mohite Patil and former Solapur Zilla Parishad member, joined the NCP (SP) and was given a ticket to the contest.
One of the key factors of this capital is its large population of Dangars. That is why Mr. Pawar had insisted that Dangar Party leader Mr. Jankar contest the seat of Maha Vikas Aghadi (India), but at the last minute he withdrew and went to Mr. Mahayuti’s (NDA) camp and became RSP leader. was given Parbhani’s seat. NCP quota led by Ajit Pawar. Parbhani is also a seat where Dhangarh will be the deciding factor.
After Jankar’s withdrawal, Dariyashir Mohite Patil was the natural choice. Before that, Pawar held extensive discussions with his uncle Vijaysingh Mohite-Patil and senior Congress leader and former chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde, among others.
“A lot of water has flowed under the bridge in the last 10 years and there have been a lot of adjustments and readjustments. There have been some issues, including drought and water crisis. This seat is definitely a photogenic seat. .The difference will not be big,” said Prakash Patil, a resident of Madha.
