SALT LAKE CITY — Miss USA titleholder and former Miss Utah USA Noelia Vogt announced Monday that she is resigning from her current position as Miss USA.

“I think this may be a huge shock to many,” she wrote on Instagram. “Never put your physical or mental health at risk.”

Vogt, 24, was crowned Miss Utah USA on July 8, 2023, representing Park City, and won the Miss USA title on September 29, 2023. She promised to use her bilingual and bicultural background to connect with people across the country.

During her seven-month reign, she advocated for anti-bullying, dating violence awareness and prevention, and immigrant rights and reform, according to the post.

She also celebrated her Venezuelan heritage by becoming the first Venezuelan-American to win the Miss USA crown.

The decision to resign was “an extremely difficult one,” she wrote. “Deep down, I know this is just the beginning of a new chapter for me.”

The Miss USA organization confirmed Vogt’s resignation on Instagram just an hour after announcing her resignation. The group said Vogt’s health was its “top priority.”

“We are currently evaluating a succession plan and will soon announce a new Miss USA crown,” the source wrote.

The competition dates back to 1952 and says it is a champion of diversity and inclusion.

“We believe that diversity makes us stronger and that by embracing it we can make a positive impact on the world,” the contest’s website says.
