USAID holds workshop to reduce dairy emissions in Pakistan

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Tuesday held an important workshop aimed at curbing methane emissions from Pakistan’s dairy industry.

According to a statement released by the US Embassy, ​​the workshop is part of USAID’s efforts to promote climate change investments in developing countries like Pakistan and to develop programs to reduce methane emissions in the dairy industry. will bring together people from various fields.

The program will apply for funding from the Green Climate Fund, which supports Pakistan’s efforts to meet climate change goals.

“By cutting these emissions by almost half by 2030, we can make a significant contribution to the global goal of keeping temperature rise below 1.5 degrees Celsius, a key goal of the Paris Climate Agreement,” said U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Brohm. ” he said.

“This workshop is an important step towards addressing this issue and building a more sustainable future for Pakistan,” he said.

Methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, contributes significantly to global warming. Reducing methane emissions is critical to limiting the effects of climate change. Pakistan has the world’s largest livestock herd;

This workshop highlights the need for financial and technical support to effectively tackle climate change. The United States and Pakistan have a history of cooperating on development issues. This workshop is part of the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework, which focuses on sustainability and climate resilience.

Aligned with USAID priorities, this initiative aims to leverage both public and private investments to improve productivity of low-emission dairy products in Pakistan and improve access to climate finance for mitigation and adaptation efforts. It is the purpose.
