Leading Smith Vocational College 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Franklin Tech baseball team’s bats came to life.

Friday’s game against Turners Falls saw the Eagles score four runs in the first inning and Kyle Begos pitched a shutout in the seventh inning to give Franklin Tech its lone victory, 7-3.

Begos pitched seven innings for the Eagles, striking out four and allowing five hits. At the plate, Tyler Yetter led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Hunter Donahue had a single, double, and two RBIs.

Gavin Crossman had two hits and one RBI, Ben Dodge had a hit and an RBI, and the Begos hit safely to win.

Frontier 3, Southwick 0 — Frontier earned its lone victory against South Deerfield on Friday as Redhawks pitcher Tyler Casson pitched a seven-inning shutout, striking out nine and allowing two hits.

Kayden James singled and doubled, Niko Fasulo had an RBI double, Grayson Ruth hit a double and Jack Conlon, Ben Caron and Owen Babb had safe hits for the win.

Greenfield 2, Mount Greylock 1 — Michael Pierce kept the Green Wave going until the seventh inning.

Pierce pitched all seven innings for Greenfield, collecting nine strikeouts and allowing only one hit, even though the Greenwave still led 1-0.

Caleb Thomas and Luca Ciano led off the bottom of the seventh inning with back-to-back singles, and Nick Prasol came back with a sacrifice bunt. Arthur Fitzpatrick singled to Thomas, and with one out, Preston LaFleur hit a sacrifice fly to score Ciano and give Greenfield a 2-1 victory.

The Green Wave had just two hits through the seventh inning. Ciano recorded two hits and contributed to the victory.

Mahar 18, Lee 0 (5) — Mahar had 15 hits on 4-of-5 innings, scored multiple runs, and escaped with a win over host Lee Friday.

Franklin Tech 18, Northampton 2 — Lilianna Inman hit a two-run shot over the fence in the second inning to lead the Eagles in scoring, helping Tech to a win over the Blue Devils in the Franklin County League East on Friday in Northampton.

With this win, the Eagles clinched the FCL East title (14-2, 11-0).

“It’s always great to win the league,” Franklin Tech coach Joe Gamache said. “This will add another banner to our gym. This group of seniors was part of a league championship team each of the four years and that meant a lot to them. This is the banner we put up this year. That was one of many goals. Hopefully we can continue on that path.”

Lily Ross had six strikeouts while allowing three hits, and added one hit and two RBIs at the plate. For the Eagles, Shelby O’Leary had a single, double and three RBIs, Hannah Gilbert had a single and triple, and Gianna Dischiulo had one hit and three RBIs.

Smith Academy 10, Pioneer 5 — In the Panthers’ loss to the Falcons on Friday at Northfield, Kelly Baird had nine strikeouts at the plate and added a triple and an RBI.

Avery Johnson, Jacobi Tyminski and Erin Killey each had a hit and an RBI, while Allie Clary, Kaylin Chabot and Jaylin Borisky had safe hits for the Pioneers.

Frontier 3, East Longmeadow 0 — Alex Carey led the way with 17 kills and Jack Carey added 16 kills as the Redhawks defeated the Spartans Friday at East Longmeadow.

Thabo Vincent Warner had 40 assists, Evan Maio had 17 goals and Will Petrin had three kills on Frontier’s service line.

Lee 4, Frontier 1 — Esther Ealy and Kayla Fagan won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles in the RedHawks’ loss to the Wildcats Friday in South Deerfield.

Frontier 15, Wacona 9 — Good night, Delaney Fifield.

The junior went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, with his third hit being the 100th hit of his career. The RedHawks scored four runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh inning to win Thursday’s Franklin County League West game in Dalton.

Sofia Pinardi had four hits and two RBIs, Olivia Massion had three hits and one RBI, Skyler Steele had three RBIs with a single and a triple, Haley Hutkoski had a double and two RBIs, and Layne Wonsey had a single and two RBIs. For Frontier, Ashley Taylor had a single and a double.

Wonsey pitched a complete game inside the circle and had seven strikeouts.
