Things were crazy inside the New England Muffin Factory in Plantsville.

“Sunday is busy, but today is Mother’s Day,” said manager Wendy Stocking.

Stocking, a mother of three, spent Mother’s Day doing something she loves.

“I’ve always baked bread. I love baking bread. And my kids were little, so it was just a few hours, part-time. And 15 years later, I’m here. ,” said Mr. Stocking.

She and her staff went to the store early Sunday morning to make muffins, scones and breakfast sandwiches. She said people waited in the parking lot before the doors opened at 7 a.m. and nonstop until 1 p.m.

“I was just looking online to find something for the moms to eat this morning,” said a woman who had visited the New England Muffin Factory with her family. “I’m going to stop by and meet them.”

Some consider themselves regulars.

“We’ve been coming to the Muffin Factory for quite some time,” said Mauel Joaquin of Chesire. “Yesterday was Mother’s Day, so we tried to avoid the crowds, but this morning’s request was for a sandwich.”

Some customers keep coming back because the muffins have a unique and delicious taste.

“Berry muffins and pistachio muffins,” said Georgian Gallagher of Marion.

“It’s a double chip chocolate muffin,” said Olivia O’Reilly of Old Lyme. “It’s very delicious and I like it very much.”

On Sunday, muffins were flying off the shelves. At some point, we ran out of stores and had to create more. So many people came to order and they were selling it as soon as it came out of the oven.

“We have enough muffins for the day,” said Mr. Stocking.
