Lok Sabha Elections 4th Phase: Uttar Pradesh, where voting is underway in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, recorded over 56 per cent voter turnout till 5 pm. Kheri, Daurala and Sitapur constituencies had the highest voter turnout at 62.75 per cent, 62.72 per cent and 60.90 per cent respectively.

Minister Ajay Mishra Theni, whose son is an accused in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri assault case, is eyeing a hat-trick from the Kheri Lok Sabha seat.

The hot seat of Kannauj, where Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the polls, had a turnout of over 59% till 5pm.

Voter turnout in Akbarpur constituency was 55.22 percent, Balaichi 55.97 percent, Etawah 54.35 percent, Farkabad 56.93 percent, Khardoi 55.73 percent, Kanpur 50.91 percent, Mislik 54.37 percent, Shahjahanpur 51.52 percent, 53.97 percent as per EC data.

Earlier today, Akhilesh Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of rigging the polls, claiming that there were complaints of interference in voting at polling stations.

“As soon as I arrived, the miscreants ran away from the booth,” claimed the SP chief who arrived at Chibramau in Kannauj district.

Of the 13 Lok Sabha seats going to polls in the fourth phase, the Bharatiya Janata Party has re-elected 11 sitting members, including Ramesh Awasthi from Kanpur and Anand Kumar from Balaichi SC seat. Two new candidates were nominated.

The Samajwadi Party, a key member of the opposition Indian bloc, has fielded candidates for 11 Lok Sabha seats at this stage, while the Congress has fielded two candidates: Kanpur (Alok Misra) and Sitapur (Rakesh Rathore). Nominated a candidate for the seat.

More than 2.46 billion people in the state are eligible to vote at this stage.
