Atlanta, May 13, 2024–(Business Wire)–Skanska, a global construction and development company, has promoted Clay Hayden to Business Unit President (BUP), Skanska USA Buildings, effective June 1, 2024. Hayden will replace Paul Hewins, who has announced his decision to retire.
As BUP, Mr. Hayden will be responsible for Skanska USA Building’s overall performance, including setting business strategy, delivering safety and financial performance, evolving a values-based culture, and positioning business units for long-term success. I will bear the burden. He will report directly to Skanska Group Executive Vice President Richard Kennedy.

Since joining Skanska in 2006, Hayden has held a series of senior positions of increasing responsibility, being appointed General Counsel in 2009, member of the senior management team in 2010, and appointed in 2016. was appointed Chief Administrative Officer. The company’s legal, compliance, and risk management functions, including insurance and warranty, ethics and compliance, and supplier diversity. As Chief Administrative Officer, he oversaw a variety of company-wide functions and led many important national initiatives that improved performance across the organization.
Prior to joining Skanska, Haden was a partner at global law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP, focusing on construction law and litigation.
Hayden holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Construction from Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction.
