A woman-led cracker maker opens a new production plant in its hometown of Buffalo to meet nationwide demand.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Top Seeds, which started just seven years ago at a local farmers market and exploded into a national brand known for its nutritious and flavorful crackers, is here with a new, highly automated A production factory has been opened and is staffed primarily by female refugees. The new facility will have 10 times the production capacity of previous operations, allowing the company to meet nationwide demand for organic, gluten-free and vegan products.

Originally from New Zealand, Brady has always considered women’s empowerment to be part of her mission. Her first employee was a female refugee from Bhutan. Currently, her 42 employees include women from more than 20 countries, many of whom are former refugees. Top Seeds also works with local agents to provide skills training and English language training. When you need it.

The company’s growth accelerated in 2021. Brady’s personal story and her entrepreneurial energy were compelling enough that she won a $1 million startup funding competition held by 43North, a Buffalo-based business accelerator organization. won a dollar.

The cracker maker currently has five product lines, including new snack-sized pouches available in 0.75-ounce and 1.5-ounce sizes. “The new snack packs allow us to meet customers in a variety of locations,” Brady said. The crackers come in his three flavors: Sea Salt, 6 Seed, Rosemary, and Cumin. Other products include roasted seeds, raw seeds and snack packs.
