In this crucial three-match T20 series between Ireland and Pakistan, it’s 1-1 and it’s a dead giveaway. Ireland took the lead in the first match, but Pakistan came back strong and took the second match. Both games saw big scoring, and interestingly, both games were won by the team batting last. Despite Pakistan’s strong performance in the second match, Ireland put up a commendable fight, with various players showing great character to contribute to the home team. From Andy Balbirnie’s determined innings in the opener to Lorcan Tucker’s brilliant 50 in the second game, Ireland’s batsmen showed grit and determination. Important cameos from Harry Tector, Curtis Campfer and Gareth Delaney kept the Irish team well-balanced. Captain Paul Sterling will be keen to make his mark and contribute even more with the bat after two disappointing games. However, a lot of improvement is needed in the bowling department. Despite scoring a formidable total of 193 runs, Ireland struggled to pick up timely wickets. Bowlers such as Graham Hume, Mark Adair, Craig Young and Ben White will need to step up their game to address this issue. On the other hand, although Pakistan have shown signs of improvement, there are still areas to work on, especially in the fielding department. Babar Azam made a strong comeback and scored a brilliant half-century in the first match, but had a disappointing performance in the previous match, giving away a walk for a duck. Mohammad Rizwan, along with Fakhar Zaman, also saved Pakistan with a formidable 75, but he also added a valuable contribution with his bat responsibly to lead Pakistan to victory. They have a strong middle order, with Iftikhar Ahmed standing out with his ability to deliver clutch finishes and increase scoring rates at the back end. Mohammad Amir was replaced by Shadab Khan, but he did not live up to expectations in the previous match and will look to play more economically. Shaheen Afridi has also got a wicket to his name, albeit a bit expensive in this series. Abbas Afridi was impressed with the ball and has topped the wicket-taker list in the series so far. Boosted by the cheers of their home crowd, Ireland will be eager to shake up Pakistan and win the series, and this win will no doubt further boost their aspirations for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be looking to maintain the momentum from the second match while showing improvement in several areas. There is no doubt that this will hinder the series deciding match. Who do you think has an advantage?
