CHANDIGARH: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chandigarh candidate Sanjay Tandon on Thursday slammed Congress’s Manish Tewari and asked him to share with voters where he will contest from in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. .
Mr Tandon said that although Mr Tewari had claimed to be the leader of the nation, it had always been a “mystery” why he changed his constituency every election.
“Currently, he is contesting from Chandigarh, which constituency will he move to in the 2029 elections?” Tandon asked.
The BJP candidate also asked why Congress candidates from Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib states, which were “hardly represented” by Tewari in the past, were not calling him to campaign.
The Congress leader was an MP from Ludhiana from 2009 to 2014. He was elected from his Sahib province of Anandpur in 2019.
Mr Tandon claimed that Mr Tewari was the only MP in the last 10 years to run from constituency to constituency for the simple reason that he had nothing to show voters.
“He is playing a similar trick on voters in Chandigarh,” the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate alleged.
Tandon acknowledged the issue of EWS flats in Danas Colony and reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the leasehold and freehold issues.
He reiterated his promise to provide housing to the underprivileged through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana if elected.
Mr Tandon urged voters to go to the polls in large numbers and achieve a record turnout of 90 per cent in the Union Territory.
