Lynchburg, Virginia – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs scored the go-ahead run on an infield hit in the ninth inning, defeating the Liberty Flames 4-3 in the CUSA Series opener Thursday night at Worthington Field.

With the score tied at 3-3 and runners on second and third and two outs, the Flames were unable to send the dribbler of Bulldogs left fielder Adarius Meyers in front of the plate, allowing Ethan Bates to score the go-ahead run. I forgave him. Bates allowed a tying run in the bottom of the inning with one out and runner on second base, but he forced the next two batters to retire and won the game.

Liberty University scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead, but Louisiana Tech scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game.

The Flames fell to 11-11 in CUSA on the year and 22-30 overall. The Bulldogs are co-leaders in CUSA, improving to 16-6 in CUSA and 39-15 overall.
