In his return game, McGee hit a bases-loaded double into the left-field gap off Arizona State’s (30-24) Ben Jacobs to get Texas Tech (30-23) off to a good start.
new student parker heutila In his first career start, he allowed a two-run single in the first inning to Arizona State (30-24)’s Jacob Tobias. Tobias went 5-for-5 on Thursday with two home runs and eight home runs.
After Jacobs hit a scoreless double, Arizona State scored six runs to take an 8-3 lead. This inning included a two-run single from Kien Vu and a two-run home run from Brandon Compton.
The six-run frame was Hutila’s last, as he was ejected after two innings. The right-hander allowed eight runs and struck out three.
Arizona State added three runs in the third inning, five runs in the fourth, and five runs in the sixth for a 21-5 victory.
In addition to McGee’s 3-run double, the Red Raiders scored unique points with Pompey’s go-ahead HR in the 4th inning and RBI double in the 6th inning.
