Nex-Tech is proud to announce the winners of the Nex-Tech Break the Rules Scholarship.
“Unlike most scholarship programs, this scholarship program allows high school seniors, no matter what type of entry they send in, to identify what they are most passionate about and whether that is their chosen career path. ,” said Jack Beckman of Nex-Tech’s Youth Services. training manager. “We received a variety of essays, YouTube videos, and PowerPoint presentations. Students in our region are extremely talented, which allows them to showcase their strengths and passions in non-traditional ways.”
CEO and General Manager Jimmy Todd said, “We received a tremendous number of scholarship entries this year, a record number in my 10 years at Nex-Tech! The creativity and effort they put into their scholarship entries is a true testament to their talent and hard work.”On behalf of the entire Nex-Tech team, I would like to begin my journey to pursue higher education and future career paths. I wish all students success. ”
The following 10 students will each receive a $1,000 award for the best student who showcases their passion and explains how it led to their chosen career.
Colin Clark is the son of Sean and Niki Clark of Hays and a graduate of Hays High School. He plans to attend Fort Hays State University and earn his bachelor’s degree, and his career goal is to enroll in his PA program at Wichita State University or Kansas State University and become a surgical assistant.
Mackenzie Clydesdale is the daughter of Randy and Teresa Clydesdale of Norton and a graduate of Norton Community High School. She plans to attend Kansas State University to study interior her design or graphic design.
Aiden Conrad is the son of Eric and Amy Conrad of Osborn and is a graduate of Osborn High School. He attended Kansas State University and earned a degree in agricultural science with career goals of becoming a seed geneticist or agronomist.
Eva Gregg is the daughter of Great Bend residents Ryan and Jennifer Gregg and is a graduate of Great Bend High School. She plans to attend Kansas State University and major in elementary education and early childhood education. Her career goal is to become an early childhood or elementary school teacher.
Riley Haresnape is the daughter of Michael and Wendy Haresnape of Norton and a graduate of Norton Community High School. She plans to attend the University of Kansas and earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her career goal is to become a pediatric nurse.
Mara Catts is the daughter of Mark and Anissa Catts of Prairie View and a graduate of Logan High School. She attended college in her community in Colby, majored in beef cattle management, and her goal is to get her certified drone license and return to her family’s farm.
Hannah Klein is the daughter of Kirk and Janie Klein of Hays and a graduate of Hays High School. She plans to pursue dual degrees in nursing programs at Kansas State University and Wichita State University. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in health and nutrition from Kansas State University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from Wichita State University, with the goal of becoming a traveling nurse.
Elijah McCullough is the son of Jason and Karen McCullough of Hays and a graduate of Hays High School. He plans to attend Fort Hays State University and major in information studies and marketing.
Jennifer Odom is the daughter of Ellen Sandelin and Rodney Odom of Hays and a graduate of Hays High School. She plans to attend Fort Hays State University and major in elementary education and minor in special education and psychology. Her career goal is to become a teacher.
Bodhi Pfannenstiel is the son of Mike and Leslie Pfannenstiel of Norton College and a graduate of Norton Community High School. He attends North Central Technical College in Hays and completes the HVAC and Electrician programs, with career goals of joining his brother’s business.
In addition, the following five students will each receive a $500 award for the outstanding student who showcases their passion and explains how it led to their chosen career.
Wade David is the son of Michael and Pamela David of Lenora and a graduate of Norton Community High School. He plans to major in chemistry at the University of Kansas. His career goal is to graduate from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and become a nuclear medicine pharmacist.
Doak Gutary is the son of Bryce and Shanna Gutary of Alton and a graduate of Osborn High School. He plans to attend Kansas State University and major in animal science and minor in business accounting or agribusiness. His career goal is to operate a heifer feedlot.
Mia Lang is the daughter of Greg and Ranae Lang of Hays and a graduate of Thomas More Prep Marian High School. She plans to major in marketing and business at Kansas State University.
Parker Lelling is the son of Jess Lelling of Quinter and a graduate of Quinter High School. He plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in criminal justice from Fort Hays State University, with his sights set on a career in law enforcement.
Brendan Stults is the son of Steve and Stacey Stults of Hays and a graduate of Hays High School. He plans to major in music education at Fort Hays State University with the goal of becoming a music teacher.
