A total of 49 seats from six states and two union territories will exercise franchise rights at this stage of the general election.
Besides Raebareli, Amethi and Lucknow, other seats in Uttar Pradesh that will go to polls on Monday include Mohanlalganj, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Faizabad, Barabanki, Kaiserganj and Gonda. It will be done.

All 14 of these seats are considered important for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the saffron party hopes to repeat its performance in 2019, when it won 13 of them. The only seat that the BJP lost out of 14 in 2019 was the Raebareli seat fielded by Congress’s Sonia Gandhi.

Raebareli and Amethi are considered to be the strongholds of the Gandhi family. Defending Congress president Sonia Gandhi had won against Raebareli last time, but her son Rahul Gandhi lost to Union Minister Smriti Iran from the Amethi seat.
Rahul Gandhi will be contesting from Raebareli seat this time. The BJP has fielded state minister Dinesh Pratap Singh against Rahul Gandhi, who also contested from Wayanad in Kerala.
From Amethi, the Congress fielded KL Sharma, a long-time Gandhian supporter, against Smriti Irani.

In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is seeking a third consecutive term. Singh will be facing Ravidas Mehrotra of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Sarwar Malik of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The Lucknow seat was once represented by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has been a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 1991.

Uttar Pradesh, where 80 Lok Sabha seats are being contested, is key for the Bharatiya Janata Party to achieve the NDA’s 400-seat target. The BJP won 62 of these seats in 2019 and 71 in the 2014 general elections. The Congress is fighting the elections in UP in alliance with the Samajwadi Party as part of the Indian Bloc.
In Uttar Pradesh, as many as 41 seats will go to polls in the remaining three phases of elections. Of these 14 seats, voting will take place in the fifth and sixth stages on May 20 and 25, respectively. The remaining 13 seats will be voted on in the final stage on June 1st. Uttar Pradesh will send 80 members to Parliament.

Brij Bhushan’s son is in contention
Kaiserganj seat, represented by controversial Congress leader and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, is also voting in the fifth phase.

The BJP has fielded Karan Bhushan Singh, the son of a sitting MP from the Sea. He will be competing against Bhagat Ram Mishra of the Samajwadi Party and Narendra Pandey of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing serious allegations of sexually harassing female wrestlers, is actively campaigning for his son’s promotion.
The fifth phase of campaigning ends on May 18th.
379 seats are sealed
The fate of 379 constituencies across 23 states and union territories will be decided when the fourth phase of voting begins on May 13. The remaining three stages of voting will take place on May 20th, May 25th, and June 1st. Lok Sabha elections will be held on June 4 in seven phases.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is seeking a record third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to win 400 seats in this election. The ruling alliance is being challenged by the Congress-led opposition party under the banner of India Bloc.
