The 2024 PGA Championship is getting closer to changing positions on the overlapping leaderboards at Valhalla Golf Club on Saturday. The 18-hole third set in Louisville will be a heated battle for the best position to advance to Sunday’s trophy final, as some of the biggest stars in the sport compete for the Wanamaker Trophy.
After the second round was postponed due to darkness, play was further postponed on Saturday morning as heavy fog settled over the grounds. Therefore, in the third round, the players will face off with 3-pointers 1 and 10.
The trio at the back is made up of three Americans, with 18- and 36-hole leader Xander Schauffele joined by two-time major champions Collin Morikawa and Saheeth Segala. The final group will tee off at No. 1 at 1:40 p.m. ET. A few groups to keep an eye on before the leaders head into the game include the trio of Max Homa, Cameron Smith and Jordan Spieth at 11:28 a.m. and Bryson DeChambeau at 1:18 p.m. Includes Viktor Hovland and Austin Eckrot.
Meanwhile, Jon Rahm, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are playing outside the competition. Woods made the first nine Friday of his PGA Championship career with a triple bogey on his first two holes and missed the cut line, while Mickelson was slightly better but still out of contention. Rahm outperformed both of them, but was never at his best at Louisville, finishing 36 holes at even par, one stroke below the line.
