Alyssa Sarkisov (DC Velo) won the junior women’s road race title, defeating Jorja Bond (Boulder Junior Cycling) by a bicycle length. Sarkisov’s teammate Lydia Cusack led the sprint and rounded out her podium.

“I was a little surprised because we were all climbing the hill together on the last lap,” Sarkisov said of his escape. “There were no attacks or anything. A few people tried to attack on the downhill, but Helena Jones (Twenty24 Aevolo) attacked once with about half a kilometer to go.
“I thought, ‘Oh, shoot, this might be the end.’ And when I got to Lydia, I thought, no one’s going to pull her, no one’s going to bring her back. This is the end.”

The win was Sarkisov’s third title, but her first as a junior in the 2017-18 season, giving her an automatic berth to the UCI World Championships in Zurich in September. Cusack was happy to support Sarkisov as she won her championship and earned her spot. Time trial at the beginning of the week.
