New Delhi: A recent investigation by the National Audit Bureau (NAB) has revealed fresh corruption charges against former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, reports Geo News. Ta. The investigation revealed that Khan had illegally obtained seven watches from the state gift warehouse and sold them while he was a national leader.

The latest case involves accusations that he kept and sold 10 expensive gifts without properly declaring them to authorities or depositing them with Toshakana, as required by law. According to a Geo News report, the regulations state that gifts exceeding 30,000 Pakistani rupees received by the head of state, first lady or president must be registered with the state gift repository.

The investigation report also revealed that Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, who was previously convicted in the Toshahana case, received and kept watches, rings and necklaces that were to be submitted to the gift depository. did.

The report also found inconsistencies in the valuation of luxury goods by inexperienced private appraisers who lacked the necessary expertise, and said gifts from the state were acquired or stored at much lower prices.

One of the controversial items, a graph clock set, was sold to Mohammad Shafiq for PKR 5.1 billion before being put into storage, and PKR 200 million of the storage cost was also paid by Shafiq to the protocol section staff. . The remaining amount was handed over to the Assistant Protocol Section, as reported by Geo News. Subsequent evaluations by various authorities showed that the value of the stored gifts was significantly higher than the original valuation.

Following these findings, NAB has been authorized to conduct further investigations against Mr. Khan and Mr. Bushra Bibi, who have both received separate summonses. They have challenged these notifications in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), with Bushra Bibi’s appeal scheduled to be heard on June 4 and Khan’s appeal scheduled for hearing on June 24. .

Khan and his spouse were previously convicted of corruption in connection with the State Gifts Repository in the Toshahana case, but their sentences were later suspended by the IHC and an appeal against their convictions is still pending in court. It is important to keep this in mind. Geo News reported.
