Mumbai: Voting in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra, including six in Mumbai, will be held on Monday in the fifth and final phase of the state’s general elections.

More than 2.46 billion people across Mumbai North, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai South, Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Palghar and Nashik voted to decide the fate of 264 candidates. I am qualified to decide. , Dindori seat and Doule seat.


Union Minister Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North), Bharati Pawar (Dindori) and Kapil Patil (Bhiwandi) are the main candidates of the BJP, which is also fielding lawyer Ujjwal Nikam (Mumbai North Central). He is one of the Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde (Kalyan) and Municipal Corporation president Varsha Gaikwad (Mumbai North Central) are also in the fray.

Voting will take place at 24,553 polling stations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The main contest is between the ruling Mahayuti, which is made up of the Shiv Sena, the BJP and the NCP, and the opposition coalition, which is made up of the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Congress and the NCP (SP). Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, where 10 of these 13 seats are located, form the bulk of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, which is one of the most urbanized regions in the country.

A total of 2,46,69,544 people are eligible to vote, comprising 1,3,138,526 men, 1,15,28,278 women and 2,740 people of the third gender.

The Shiv Sena party, led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has fielded candidates in the constituencies of South Mumbai, North West Mumbai and South Central Mumbai, while the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded candidates in the constituencies of North Mumbai, North Central Mumbai and Mumbai. Candidates were fielded in each constituency in the northeast. .

The opposition Shiv Sena (UBT), led by former CM Uddhav Thackeray, has announced plans to move into Mumbai South, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai North East and Mumbai North as part of a seat-sharing agreement with Maha Vikas Aghadi Party partner NCP. We fielded candidates in the West (SP) and Congress.

Congress candidates are vying in the metropolitan areas of North Central and North Mumbai. Thane and Kalyan, where the Senas and their rival Senas are in conflict, are under CM Shinde’s political turf and are a battle for CM Shinde’s prestige.

CM Shinde’s close aide Naresh Maaske and his son Shrikant Shinde are Shiv Sena candidates from Thane and Kalyan states respectively. The contest is between the BJP and Sena (UBT) in Palghar, while in Bhiwandi, a textile manufacturing hub, the BJP and NCP (SP) are the main candidates. Dhule witnessed the battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress.

In Dindori, the BJP will face Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP), while in Nashik, CM Shinde-led Shiv Sena will face off against Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).

The Mumbai Police will mobilize close to 30,000 security personnel to ensure smooth voting in the city, an official said earlier. At least 2,752 police officers and 27,460 other personnel, including three units of riot police, will be on bandobust duty on polling day in the national capital region, they said.

According to sources, five police officers of the rank of additional police commissioner, 25 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) and 77 assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) will lead various teams during the bandobast. He said around 5,000 police officers, 6,200 home guards and 36 units of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) would also be mobilized from outside on polling day.

Voting for 35 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra was held in four phases on April 19, April 26, May 7 and May 13. Votes will be counted on June 4th.
