NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party president K. Annamalai on Sunday slammed the Indian bloc and asserted that the “fake alliance” between AAP and the National Capital Congress is not for the development of the country.
Addressing a poll rally in RK Puram here, Annamalai also targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying the AAP leader had promised to fight corruption and never join hands with the Congress when forming the party.
Currently, Kejriwal’s party is contesting the Delhi assembly elections along with the Congress, he said.
“(Congress leader) Rahul Gandhi recently said he will vote for AAP and Kejriwal’s party will vote for Delhi Congress. But in Punjab, they are fighting separately. This alliance is for power. It is an alliance. This alliance is not for the development and security of our country,” Annamalai said.
Raising the issue of alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, the BJP leader said, “It is clear that a Rajya Sabha MP was assaulted at the CM’s residence. They cannot give justice.”
Attacking Rahul Gandhi, Annamalai said the Congress leader’s speeches were very different in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and UP. “The reason is voting politics.”
He further added, “New Delhi is not only the capital of our country but also a world city. The development of New Delhi is the development of our country.”
Addressing a separate gathering, Annamalai said there was a huge amount of development work undertaken by the Modi government in the last decade, which not only changed India’s direction but also strengthened the country’s position in the world.
Mr. Annamalai alleged that today Congress is talking about fundamental rights, but it was the same Congress that “killed” democracy in 1975.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party has to ensure victory in all seven seats in Delhi this time and then oust the Kejriwal government from Delhi next year.
