Wyatt Hendrickson is transferring from the Air Force Academy and will head to Stillwater, Oklahoma to join the Oklahoma State University wrestling program next season.

Hendrickson announced the move on his Instagram account Sunday and confirmed the decision on his podcast “The Burn Sessions.”

“After I prayed, a place caught my eye,” Hendrickson said on the podcast. “I said it would be a great opportunity if David Taylor were to be my coach. I’m going to Oklahoma State, baby!”

Hendrickson entered the transfer portal on April 24 after finishing third at the NCAA Championships in March.

However, as a Falcon player, Hendrickson competed at another school and required approval from the U.S. Air Force to defer his service in the Air Force.

“He has official Air Force clearance to compete,” Air Force Academy coach Sam Barber told FloWrestling in April. “…He can get a full scholarship. He can get [a] name, image, portrait [deal]. He can represent one year and then another school. He will return to the Air Force as part of the World Class Athlete Program and will once again be able to wrestle in the United States Air Force. ”

Hendrickson finished his four years at Air Force as a two-time All-American, finishing his senior season with a record of 27-2.

Hendrickson had a career record of 103-11, never losing more than two games in a season after his freshman season.

Hendrickson joins a powerhouse Oklahoma State program that finished 10th in the NCAA Championships.

The Cowboys have won 34 championships, their last title coming in 2006. As Hendrickson prepares for his first year with the Cowboys, so does Taylor, who accepted the Cowboys coaching job on May 6.

Taylor wrestled at Penn State from 2009 to 2014 and was a two-time All-American. The Nittany Lions’ wrestling program has won 11 team titles since 2011.
