A day after the fifth phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its activities in the run-up to the sixth and seventh phases of voting. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh after addressing a rally in Bihar, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will be in Haryana and will attend Yamunanagar in Ambala Lok Sabha constituency. He is scheduled to speak at a public meeting. The Prime Minister will also address ‘Nari Shakti Samvad’ in the Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi.
According to the Election Commission’s turnout app, around 58.96 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections, with the highest turnout being West Bengal (73.14%) and the lowest turnout being Maharashtra. state (53.34%). It was the first major election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir, with voter turnout in Baramulla constituency at 54.67%, the highest since 1984. Voting for 49 Lok Sabha seats in six states and two union territories was held on Monday. Voters will cast their votes today in five Lok Sabha seats in Odisha as well as in the second phase of simultaneous state assembly elections.
