Trend Micro has introduced a new tool to help computer users protect themselves against artificial intelligence (AI)-powered threats, as part of the company’s continuing development of AI-powered cybersecurity solutions.
While AI can be useful in a variety of areas, police recently warned that misuse of AI is leading to an increase in fraud and increasing the effectiveness of fraud. For example, fake images, audio, or video can lead victims to believe they are seeing or hearing something completely fabricated.
In a recent survey conducted by Trend Micro, approximately 72% of respondents expressed excitement about the potential for AI to improve the quality of tasks and discover new opportunities, while approximately 65% said they believe AI will spread misinformation. 58% are concerned about AI misusing their image or likeness.
Other vulnerabilities
Beyond this potential for misuse of AI, vulnerabilities can exist in AI applications themselves, and without protection, consumers can be unknowingly misdirected or unintentionally exposed to personal information. Data may be made public.
“Generative AI is a key enabler of infrastructure changes that require us to develop innovative solutions and leverage our long history of understanding digital threats to keep up with the times,” said Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro. It represents,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure that from the individual consumer to every user, the world’s largest organizations can safely and confidently leverage the full potential of AI and AI PCs.” ”
Protection when using AI computers
This change is specifically designed to provide enhanced protection when using AI PCs. Trend Micro plans to introduce new consumer solutions designed to protect users from AI abuse in the second half of 2024, leveraging both existing and new products and services.
Among its capabilities are protections such as preventing tampering with AI applications, contaminating AI applications with malicious input, and preventing AI applications from inadvertently or maliciously accessing sensitive data.
There will also be features to protect consumers from malicious content generated or modified by AI.
