However, over the past six drawings, a whopping 29 Powerball players were one ball away from winning the Division 1 jackpot.
These players had all seven winning numbers, but none of the Powerball numbers. That means they took home the Division 2 prize pool instead.
Ten of the second division winners were from New South Wales, eight from Victoria, five from Western Australia and three each from Queensland and South Australia, The Lott reported.

The 29 winners collectively won more than $4.35 million in prize money, and in last week’s drawing alone, 10 Division 2 winners each won $179,059.50 in prize money.
Lotto spokeswoman Anna Hobdell said all of those players would have won division one prize money if they had purchased a power hit entry.
“When it comes to Powerball, we are often asked for the biggest tips, but when it comes to securing the all-important Powerball numbers, it’s hard to ignore the power hits,” she said.
“Power Hit is Powerball’s exclusive entry type that guarantees you the all-important Powerball numbers you need to win Division 1.
“Imagine matching all seven winning numbers in the main barrel, only to realize that you missed out on the jackpot because of the most important Powerball number. not.
“Power Hits is doing well.”
“Historically PowerHits has had good form. Last year there were 20 winning Powerball Division 1 entries across Australia that collectively won more than $552.15 million in prizes. More than half of these wins were on PowerHits.
“But we have certainly seen Division 1 wins from other types of entries. In fact, a Bankstown dad won $100 million last year with a six-game quick pick entry worth just $8.10. , became a millionaire.
“After all, if you secure your ticket by 7.30pm (AEST) on Thursday, you have the chance to win it all.
“We can’t wait to see how Thursday’s $150 million Powerball drawing goes and whether we can announce the Division 1 winners registered this week.”
